These Obstacles

Hi. My name is Michelle and I am a quote junkie.

I spend hours on my phone searching for and reading quotes that apply to a particular situation, who am I kidding? I look for quotes that relate to anything for any reason all the time. I’m the person that has screenshots of the aforementioned posts saved on my phone waiting for the perfect moment to post them.

I wonder when that perfect posting moment will be because I’m not on social media as much as I used to. Anyway, in the very same way,  I  feel like I’ve been waiting forever for my life to take shape. If it’s not one thing, it’s the other. My life has felt like hurdle after hurdle, very much like a steeplechase event with a non-existent finish line.

“Success is determined not by whether or not you face obstacles, but by your reaction to them. And if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.”
Ben Carson,

I’m not successful at the things I love(d) because I see challenges as an excuse for my failure. Like oh this, that and the other is the reason I can not/will not achieve XYZ. Boy! I do it a lot. What’s weird is I am great at encouraging some of my friends. We talk through their issues, find solutions and watch them work out. I’m a classic case of knowing what to do and not doing it.

Remember the changes I was talking about a little ago? Changing how I deal with tough situations ought to be somewhere at the top of the list. Speaking of lists, I need to make one but not before I share this quote with you. A quote that beautifully captures how I want to always look at life because these obstacles are my life.

“For a long time, it had seemed to me that life was about to begin–real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.” — Howland, Bette

  1. Great writing! Followed! I love that last quote, things escalated quickly with that last line haha. I know what you mean by the way, you’re selfless just like me. Love to help others but do little to help ourselves. However, I believe that any obstacle can be overcome so if you ever want any change in your life or if you want to set things in motion, I recently published a post introducing a new weird method that’ll make us more productive. I’d really appreciate it if you gave it a look 🙂 https://mzukowskiblog.wordpress.com/2018/10/06/a-simple-weird-method-to-increase-your-productivity/
